This is a fun class designed to appeal to both recreational
trackers and those who wish to go further and compete
with their dogs. We accept all breeds of dogs (mixed
breeds welcome!) and all ages - from 12 week old puppy to
senior. Dogs and handlers must have a reasonable level
of physical fitness but you don't need to be a star athlete
to participate. We do go out in all but the very worst
weather!
We find that this is a good
activity for almost all dogs including those who are lacking in confidence, reactive or
dog aggressive. Dogs are generally worked one at a time
and always on leash (long line). Since a large portion
of a dog's brain is committed to olfaction - a short period
of scent work often tires a dog out. A tired dog is
less likely to get into trouble!
The orientation is held at
our training facility - View Royal Community Centre and
further classes are held throughout the community - often
View Royal Elementary School and Francis King Park.
