Malene's Bio

Malene is a gifted, gentle, results-oriented trainer.
She grew up in Denmark amongst dogs and horses; assisted her father with dog
handling, rearing and training from the time she could hang on to a leash
and outweigh a spaniel.
In 2000 she immigrated to Canada and settled in Victoria where she continued
to work with dogs as a professional dog obedience and behaviour modification
trainer on south Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
Malene’s training is always based on an clear understanding of each animal's
individuality. An advocate of non-abusive training methods, she teaches fun,
positive and proven techniques to help your dog become a happy, well
socialized and well mannered member of your family and society.
The positive training methods applied build a sound relationship based on
trust and respect.
She helps owners create and maintain a strong leadership role, illustrating
methods that are motivational
and non-abusive. These methods are much more enjoyable and effective than
techniques that aim to dominate the dog. Owners are taught how to read their
dog’s body language, to understand how dogs learn and
communicate and in turn, how to effectively communicate with their dog.
Malene continues to build on her expertise as a dog trainer and behaviour
consultant by regularly attending relevant seminars and workshops throughout
the year as well as doing literary research.
She is also a member of Doggone Safe and teaches children how to be safe
with familiar and unfamiliar dogs.
